Exam Pattern:

The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in three stages:

1. Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Objective Type)

2. Tier-II: Descriptive Paper

3. Tier-III: Skill Test/Typing Test (where applicable)

1. Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Objective Type):

   - The Tier-I exam is conducted online.

   - The exam consists of four sections: General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.

   - Each section has 25 questions, with a total of 100 questions.

   - The total marks for Tier-I are 200.

   - The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

   - There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

2. Tier-II: Descriptive Paper:

   - The Tier-II exam is a descriptive paper conducted in pen-and-paper mode.

   - Candidates are required to write an essay of 200-250 words and a letter/application of approximately 150-200 words.

   - The essay and letter/application can be written in either English or Hindi.

   - The total marks for Tier-II are 100.

   - The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

   - The paper is qualifying in nature, and candidates need to secure the minimum qualifying marks to be eligible for the next stage.

3. Tier-III: Skill Test/Typing Test:

   - Tier-III is applicable only for specific posts.

   - The Skill Test is conducted for Data Entry Operator (DEO) post, and the Typing Test is conducted for Postal Assistant (PA)/Sorting Assistant (SA), LDC, and Court Clerk posts.

   - The skill test is conducted on a computer, where candidates are evaluated on their data entry speed and accuracy.

   - The typing test is conducted in either English or Hindi, and candidates are evaluated on their typing speed and accuracy.

   - The skill test/typing test is qualifying in nature.
